Week in Review & Pretty Pintastic Party #189
TGIF! I hope everyone had an amazing week and is ready for the weekend! We’re back with another weekly Pretty Pintastic Party, but first let’s sneak a peek into the week of This Scattered Life.
Phew – the holidays are almost over, and what a whirlwind it has been. I’m so glad I gave up on striving for perfection a while back. My goal for next Christmas is to get wrapped gifts under a fully decorated tree and the menu planned a full week prior to the arrival of the fat man with his reindeer. Not too much to ask for really.
Christmas somehow snuck up on me again this year. You would have thought the blinking red and green lights strung around our house would have been a constant reminder – but no. We did sorta manage to get everything done, but this year might have taken the record for the most scattered yet.
The eve of Christmas Eve (23rd) found Jeff and I several thousand feet downhill picking up items I “won” at an online auction. Between our small SUV and a trailer, we still couldn’t fit everything – a few things had to stay behind. We had just enough room inside the vehicle for the two of us plus our “other daughter” that we needed to pick up on our way to a surprise birthday party.
Did I mention the trailer full of furniture was uncovered? Two hours into the party the blizzard started and we had to cut our fun short. The trailer was already blanketed in snow and ice. We were halfway home when we hit our first highway closure and had to exit. Our Plan B – on a different highway through the mountains – got us closer, but still ended with police blocking the road.
Plan C wound us through all the casinos and back down to our last chance of getting home. And who did we meet on our travels? Why none other than the sheriff with his car parked across the road. I did finally convince him that we were locals (even though we hadn’t updated our licenses), and he let us through. What should have been a 45 minute drive home turned into a 3 hour tour.
Christmas Day I was still cleaning furniture and drying it out.
What about you? Do you have it all together or are you a scattered mess like me?? Ah well, we were with the ones we love, gifts were given, dinner was amazing, and we made some more funny memories. Next year I’m aiming for boring.
