Hi – and welcome to This Scattered Life! (Or as my husband Jeff refers to it, ‘My Crazy Wife’). I’m Diane and I am scattered. Nothing bad enough to require 12 steps, but I am pretty much all over the place. Too many interests and hobbies AND too easily distracted. Consistency has always eluded me. Some days I might try out 3 new recipes in a single day, and other days – well, I can go MANY days without cooking anything at all. I adore trying out new recipes. Fixing the same ol’ standard fare just to get dinner on the table as quickly as possible – that I find tedious.
Hiking, yoga and reading are a few of my favorite pastimes. It’s been less than 3 years since we packed up everything we didn’t sell off or give away and moved to Colorado. The lifestyle, the mountains and the sunshine – major factors instigating our move from Michigan. Some days I just want to hang out on the couch binge watching Parks & Rec or The Walking Dead. I could seriously spend days just staring at the boob tube. And the sunshine – some days it is just way too intense for my fair skin. (Which is why I need to always keep a stash of hats and sunscreen). The mountains though, those glorious mountains. I hope never to get complacent in regards to the fabulous, majestic Colorado mountains!
Here at This Scattered Life (TSL), you’ll find mostly coherent ramblings about the simple pleasures in life – food & drink, travel, vintage restorations and DIY projects. There are TSL original recipes as well as reviews of some of the food blog recipes I’ve tried and eateries we’ve patronized. Travel & activities includes places we’ve been to and reviews of wineries, breweries and hot springs. We’ll also share with you the pains and gains of restoring our Nash Metropolitan, boats, campers and various bicycles. Upcycling and refurbishing are major themes of DIY projects, as well as crafts such as knitting, spinning, blacksmithing, engraving and leather work.
Jeff is the main man behind the scenes – restoring, painting, engraving, and creating with metal, leather and wood. He is my partner in crime as well as in life. Our son Zach helps with creations as well as photography, and his sister Sarah helps me out with editing (and hopefully someday the writing as well). I, of course, am scattered across creating, writing, photography and whatever else catches my attention.
We’re very happy you’ve stopped by our little section of the blogosphere and hope you’ll stick around for a bit – be sure to let us know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions and help us get to know you better!
